The RUSA Guidelines for Behavioral Performance of Reference and Information Service Providers (Behavioral Guidelines) Task Force has been charged to review and revise it. We want to make sure you have a voice in this effort.
Here are two ways to do so:
- Attend the RUSA Town Hall about the changes and talk to us about it.
Tuesday, July 12 at 1 Eastern | Noon Central | 11 Mountain | 10 Pacific
- Read the 2nd draft, then comment on the document and complete our survey.
Please share your thoughts by July 29, 2022, so we can review and update the document for its final draft.
Changes in reference since the last update include:
- Virtual reference transforming our service models.
- The critical importance of incorporating diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in our professional conduct.
- The need for evaluation as part of the reference interaction due to the pervasiveness of disinformation.
Using the RUSA Behavioral Guidelines is key to providing excellent reference and user services. As one of the documents in the Reference Toolkit, these guidelines are fundamental to articulating and developing best practices for library workers' behavior during reference interactions.
Thank you,
RUSA Behavioral Guidelines Task Force
