Hi African-American Studies Librarians Interest Group! My name is Jessie and I am an editor at The New Books Network. I am writing to share a bit with this community about what we do. The NBN is the world's largest book-focused podcast network, with over 150 channels covering an incredible range of topics including African American Studies, American Politics and Public Policy.
Each episode features an interview between an NBN host and a highly qualified expert discussing a book they've recently written. Each of our ~1,000 hosts is vetted and works as a professor and/or authority in their field so it's a fantastic way for listeners to deepen their knowledge by hearing directly from those shaping academic conversations and debates. With over 25,000 episodes available and 10 new ones added daily, there's always something fascinating to explore. Academics and curious members of the public value the NBN as a trusted resource for learning.
All of our content is free to the public on our website at newbooksnetwork.com, as well as Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and all other major podcast platforms. We also send out a weekly free newsletter to learn more about new books, scholars, and episodes which can be found at https://newbooksnetwork.substack.com/.
We hope that you will spread the word about the NBN with patrons at your library. As a free resource committed to public education, we want to be as valuable to libraries and librarians as possible. We are also enthusiastic about publicizing the great work that libraries and librarians do, and finding common ground to collaborate. If you are interested in learning more about us and chatting about how we can work together, please contact us at hello@newbooksnetwork.com or jessie@newbooksnetwork.com with the subject line "ALA Collaboration"
