**Cross-posting this message for representation from all areas within academic libraries**

I'd like to emphasize that we are inviting responses from anyone working full time within academic libraries. We are especially interested to learn more about the experiences of non-librarian staff members and appreciate sharing this invitation within your organization.

    Dear colleagues,

We cordially invite you to participate in a research survey that seeks to learn more about the side hustles pursued by people who work in academic libraries, including staff members, librarians and archivists, and administrators. Your input will help us learn more about the variety of side work library employees engage in and what motivates them. For this survey, we are using Indeed.com’s definition of a side hustle: “an additional employment opportunity outside of a person’s full-time job that provides supplemental income.”

We invite participation from library personnel working in the United States. If you choose to participate, you will complete an online survey that will take at most 10 minutes to complete. Participation is voluntary, and you may withdraw at any time and for any reason. Responses to this survey will be anonymous.

Your completion of the survey indicates your willingness to participate. Please forward this survey to colleagues who may be interested in participating, as we are aware not everyone has the time or ability to participate in listservs.

This research study has been approved by the Eastern Michigan University’s UHSRC onJuly 15, 2024. This survey will be open through September 30, 2024. Results may be shared through conference presentations or publications.

Thank you for your consideration. Direct questions about this study to Julia K. Nims at jnims@emich.edu.
