    Special Collections Curator (Two positions)

    The Syracuse University Libraries invites applications from individuals who value creativity, curiosity, and collaboration to support the work of its Special Collections Research Center (SCRC). SCRC is a vibrant research and learning environment for Syracuse University students, faculty, staff, and the local and world-wide communities. We are currently seeking to grow our Special Collections team with two open positions: Special Collections Curator (20th century--present) and  Special Collections Curator (Early/Pre-20th century)

    Special Collections Curator (20th century--present)

    The Special Collections Curator (20th century-present) is charged with the continued development of and teaching and engagement with the 20th century collections of rare books, printed materials, manuscripts, media, and digital archives. Among the Special Collections Research Center's (SCRC) collection strengths are activism and social reform, architecture and industrial design, photography/photojournalism, history of recorded sound and broadcasting, science fiction, printing and publishing history, and cartoons.

    Special Collections Curator (Early/Pre-20th century)

    The Special Collections Curator (Early/Pre-20th century) is charged with the continued development of and teaching and engagement with the pre-20th century collections of rare books, printed materials, manuscripts, and archives. Among the Special Collections Research Center's (SCRC) collection strengths are antiquarian books, Leopold von Ranke collection, history of printing and publishing, New York State history and ephemera, religious and utopian communities and 19th century reform movements, such as women's rights and abolition of slavery.

    Applications for the two Curator positions will be considered for any Librarian rank, commensurate with their experience. The minimum starting salaries for the various ranks of Librarian are:

    • Assistant Librarian: $50,000/year
    • Senior Assistant Librarian: $55,000/year
    • Associate Librarian: $65,000/year
    • Librarian: $75,000/year
