    The ALA Core Metadata Interest Group provides a framework for information exchange, participates in the review of standards, and develops programming around metadata topics. The Interest Group's main communication channel is the website on ALA Connect. We're a collegial, supportive group and welcome folks of all backgrounds and experience levels

    Requirements:

    • Officers must be members of Core (Learn more about Core)
    • Officers are expected to attend (either virtually or in-person) Core Metadata Interest Group Programming. Requirements vary depending on position. 
    • Officers must be willing to serve up to 2 years (see open officer positions below)

    The commitment is typically a few hours a month with a bit more time required when planning and hosting programming.

    Positions open for election:

    • Vice chair (2025-2026, becomes Chair 2026-2027)*
    • Programming co-chair (2025-2027)*
    • Communication co-chairs (2 officers needed, 2025-2027)

    *Required to attend ALA Annual in-person

    Nominate yourself by filling out the nomination form! We will hold the election during the ALA Metadata Interest Group Business Meeting, Saturday, June 28th at 1 PM Eastern at Pennsylvania Convention Center, Room 121 A. Take a look at the officer position descriptions for more information!
