  • 1.  Search suggestions regarding cost

    Posted Dec 03, 2024 02:45 PM

    Hi all,

I'm trying to explore a topic about training costs with a faculty member – not a review at present, just exploratory. But I'm not finding what I'm expecting, so something is going wrong.

Does anyone have any hedges or search suggestions for finding studies related to the cost of training (not education) in medical fields? Particularly nursing, but at this point, I'm looking more broadly. I'm finding the cost of staff turnover used as a benchmark to training/retraining, and how training or retraining can impact cost-of-care/business, and the impact of student debt on workplace stress and performance, but nothing at all on the cost of the training itself.

So far I've looked in CINAHL and Medline/Pubmed, but I'm open to other source suggestions, too.

    Thanks, all!

    Rebecca

    Rebecca,

Have you checked out the business databases like Business Source Complete or ProQuest One Business?  I have often found more articles when looking for "return on investment" for education or training than in education and other subject specific databases especially if they are published in HR or management journals that wouldn't be indexed in CINAHL or PubMed.

    Best,

    --Christina
