ACRL Chapters Council

Hope everyone is having a good week so far.

This is a reminder that all current chapter leaders need to have an ALA Connect account, including subscribing to the Chapters Council space. Outside of the twice-annual meetings, the Chapters Council space is essentially the only forum, other than the Newsletter, for communicating with the Chapters Council membership. If any of your fellow state or regional chapter officers need to join ALA Connect or subscribe to the Chapters Council space, please have them do so as soon as possible. Please direct any questions about this process to Paula Martin, the List Administrator, at paula.martin@uwyo.edu, or myself, at eedwards@ilsos.gov.

If necessary, we may also reach out to individual chapter leaders who have not joined the ALA Connect space. To that end, we will need an accurate list of who the current state and regional chapter officers are. Please check the directory here, and if any information is not accurate, let Aleah Price know at aprice@ala.org. As you will note from the 2023-24 "Work Plan", we are trying to streamline this process, including possibly creating an online form that chapters can use to update the names and contact information of their current leaders, but, for right now, e-mailing Aleah Price remains the best way to ensure the directory is current.

Additionally, if your chapter has not done so, please add or update the information on its governing structure, annual meetings, membership counts, and related information at Chapters Council Organization survey. Thank you to previous Chairs Ali Larsen and Dawn Behrend for launching this effort to help the different chapters learn from each other and exchange ideas.

Also, once I have received a response from the ACRL Board on whether it took any action at its meeting last week, on the proposal to change the eligibility requirements to run for Chapters Council officer, I will share that information.
