Panelist Opportunity: Libraries Respond Webinar

  • 1.  Panelist Opportunity: Libraries Respond Webinar

    Posted May 09, 2025 12:01 PM

Interested in being more involved in ALA activities? ODLOS is currently looking to feature members in a panel discussion on Queer Literacy on Thursday, June 5th!

This year ODLOS launched a new webinar series called Libraries Respond, creating opportunities for ALA leaders to talk about topics or communities related to EDIA work. We also are using these webinar opportunities to update resources on all of our ALA Libraries Respond pages throughout the year. For our next webinar, we're planning to host a program called Libraries Respond: Advocating for Queer Literacy in 2025. Here is the working description:

In our current climate, the attack on queer literacy has a ripple effect on our library communities through book bans, criticism on inclusive programming, and isolating members of the LGBTQ community. Join our panel discussion made up of ALA leaders and special guests that will highlight their experiences and perspectives on overcoming the challenges that library professionals face and persevere through to highlight and celebrate queer literacy and the LGBTQ community year-round.

Our panel is scheduled for Thursday, June 5th at 3pm - 4:30pm CT. We are looking at including members from ALA divisions, round tables, and committee groups. We would like for the panel to be made up of individuals who identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ community. It's important to us that the webinar presentation is a safe space for folks.

If you have interest in participating, please reach out to Jennifer Ledesma, Program Coordinator, at jledesma@ala.org by Monday, May 19th. Please feel free to pass along any names who you think may be a good fit for this program. Thank you so much for your support with ODLOS programming!
