Georgia State University Library is accepting proposals for our virtual Open Education Week symposium, Open for Student Success, to take place via WebEx on Friday, March 8th, 2024 from 9:30am-4:30pm. We welcome proposals by faculty and staff working in higher education for this free online symposium, which will allow presenters to share their experience and wisdom with attendees who wish to learn more about Open Educational Resources (OER). Faculty and staff may invite student collaborators as co-presenters.
Brief/rough proposals will be due by February 7th, 2024.

Session Formats:
- 45-minute presentation (live), followed by a 15-minute Q&A
- 10-minute lightning talk (live), followed by a 5-minuteQ&A
- 10-minute lightning talk (pre-recorded) – recordings will be posted on the day of the symposium
- 45 minute panel discussion (live), followed by a 15-minutue Q&A
All sessions will be recorded and shared with an open license following the event.
Themes may include but are not limited to:
- Research conducted on OER
- OER successes/challenges
- Collaboration on OER projects
- Adaptation or authorship of OER
- Diversity, equity, and inclusion in OER
- Copyright, Creative Commons, and OER
- OER and STEAM
- OER and AI
- OER and educational affordability
- Open pedagogy projects
- Student voices: We are interested in hearing from students about their experiences with textbook affordability (or lack thereof) as well as OER and open pedagogy projects. Please feel free to submit a presentation that includes students and/or recommend students to us so we can invite them to participate in a panel.
- Faculty panels: We are looking for faculty who have experience with OER/open pedagogy to participate in panels by discipline. If we get more than 4 interested faculty for each panel, we will either create multiple panels or select faculty to have a broad representation. If a colleague from another university is interested in participating on a panel, please consider recommending them to the organizers of the symposium.
