Required qualifications:
Master's degree and 2 years related experience
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited program or international equivalent
- Experience supervising a diverse team
- One year of experience working in library circulation services
- Demonstrated leadership in providing excellent customer service to a diverse customer population
- Ability and interest to engage in and contribute to the library's ongoing DEI efforts

Major Duties
Reporting to the Access Services Department Head, the Circulation Services Librarian will provide direction and vision for the unit, including identifying and incorporating circulation best practices. Responsibilities include:
- Supervision of a team consisting of 6.5 FTE daytime and evening Circulation staff, 3.0 FTE Course Reserves staff, and 20+ students at the University Libraries. Staff responsibilities include opening and closing of Parks Library and branch libraries.
- Fosters inclusive environments and services for library patrons and staff.
- Serve as safety coordinator, including updating and developing safety policies
- Patron fine and account management
- Coordinate with other library departments to improve and ensure consistent service
- Regularly reviewing policies, priorities, procedures, workflows, work assignments, and unit goals, modifying as necessary for efficiency, optimization of resources, and service to the ISU community's needs.
Librarian II Level Guidelines:
- Intermediate-level position with solid professional and/or technical skills working under general supervision to achieve goals
- Applies broad, working knowledge of the principles of the field to moderately complex, difficult, and varied problems and issues
- Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action and resolve problems
- Responds to a broad range of inquiries and requests
- May lead projects of moderate scope and complexity
- Demonstrate area(s) of research interest and/or leadership exhibited in professional activities.

Additionally, the candidate will possess adaptability and decision-making skills; be able to formulate and implement innovative approaches and solutions to problems; communicate complex ideas to a wide range of audiences; effectively communicate and collaborate; and demonstrate a commitment to diversity, inclusion, social justice, public service, and the land-grant mission.
Academic Librarians are required to contribute to the profession through service (participation/leadership on committees, working groups, etc. outside of the university) or scholarship outcomes in areas of professional interest. To achieve these contributions, Librarians have access to professional development funds.
