Under the general direction of the Library Director, the full-time Access Services Librarian (Team Leader) acts as an integral part of the Beneficial-Hodson Library staff, leads and supervises the team that provides access services to campus constituents, and coordinates the recruitment, scheduling, training, management, and assessment of all part-time para-professional staff, undergraduate student employees, and graduate assistants. This individual advances the mission of the college and the library by providing high quality customer service, by participating actively with teaching activities, and by building relationships within the College and library communities. This individual will participate in strategic planning, goal setting, collection development, outreach activities, and assessing the library's impact on student success. Some evening work required. Weekend work may be required on occasion.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Access Services
- Coordinates and supervises planning and staff activity related to circulation, course reserves, document delivery, interlibrary loans, and patron access to library resources, etc.
- Supervises the part-time Access Services Technician. Plans and directs work assignments, sets individual and departmental goals and conducts performance appraisals.
- Recruits, trains, supervises, and assesses student workers and graduate assistants. Schedules staff for information desk coverage and prepares the building schedule each semester.
- Coordinates policies (including copyright) and procedures and maintains good public relations for the library's Access Services Department.
- Coordinates activities related to the physical maintenance of the collection: e.g., evaluating books for repair or replacement, shifting, re-labeling, re-shelving, and other duties related to stacks maintenance.
- Operates the circulation desk as needed.
- Produces reports, informational materials, and correspondence and helps manage library systems (web site, LibApps, ILS, patron authentication, Blackboard, Tipasa, etc.).
- Provides and manages access to the building and its physical spaces.
- Provides reference assistance and instruction at the information desk and engages with other teaching and outreach activities (workshops, orientations, resource fairs, etc.).
- Maintains timely verbal/ written communications with other college departments on library-related matters.
- Participates in special projects as needed in other areas such as cataloging and bibliographic maintenance.
- Works with campus security and facilities on issues related to building safety, security, and access.
- Serves on library and campus committees and engages with campus events. Coordinates closely with other academic support offices in the library and learning commons.
- Collaborates with library staff to address organizational training and transformation related to cultural competence and diversity, equity, and inclusion objectives.
- Works with outreach team to design, market, implement, and assess inclusive, culturally sustaining educational programming and outreach initiatives that reach students, faculty, and staff.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
This position directly supervises one half time Access Services Technician, one to two graduate assistants, and approximately 20 part-time student workers.

Education and/or Experience
Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution. Familiarity and experience with library automated systems.
Language Skills
Strong command of the English language. Ability to read, write, and interpret. Ability to effectively present information. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedures manuals. Proficient in the communication of key concepts for the specific discipline in the English language and ability to assist students with English as a secondary language. Strong oral and written communication skills.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with and apply mathematical concepts. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to draw conclusions from data and make appropriate recommendations.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to hypothesize, draw, and support conclusions. Ability to work independently and as a member of a group in developing and executing project plans. Ability to work with theoretical concepts and to apply logic as appropriate.
