    Grand Valley State University (GVSU) Libraries are seeking candidates for a Health Sciences Librarian, a tenure-track faculty position. The position is for an inclusive, user-focused, and collegial librarian. The Health Sciences Librarian will report to the Head of Professional Programs and be located on the Health Sciences Campus in Grand Rapids.

    Health Sciences Librarians are liaisons to the university's health sciences programs, such as Allied Health, Occupational Therapy, and Physical Therapy. As a Liaison Librarian, they collaborate with faculty to provide learning opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students. Liaisons also engage in library instruction, including first-year writing; research services; and use subject knowledge to support the work of collections, systems, and scholarly communications. They demonstrate a commitment to student success, an understanding of the liberal education mission, and work collaboratively and independently within a dynamic team-based organization.

    Salary range: $54,000-$58,000

    Required Qualifications

    • Master's Degree awarded by or before August 2022 from a program accredited by the American Library Association (ALA) or from a program in a country with a formal accreditation process as identified by ALA
    • Demonstrated ability to work flexibly, as the position balances independent and collaborative work, as well as a mix of meeting immediate user needs and longer-term strategic work
    • Strong time management skills
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing
    • Demonstrated ability to interact with others with respect and empathy to accomplish shared goals
    • Demonstrated teamwork skills complemented by the ability to take initiative
    • Understand Health Sciences terminology and concepts of evidence-based medicine
    • Commitment to inclusion, equity, and accessibility in order to provide excellent customer service to a diverse population

     Preferred Qualifications:

    • Undergraduate or graduate coursework, degree, or work experience in health sciences
    • Knowledge of or experience developing and delivering instructional programming
    • Experience using research tools and collections to support learning or research
    • Ability to learn and use new instructional technologies
