    Description

The Ida Jane Dacus Library seeks a solution-focused, collaborative, and advocacy-oriented Digital Strategies and Systems Librarian who leverages current and emerging standards and practices to ensure the integrity of the Library and Archives' discovery, repository, and other technological systems and associated hardware and software.

Reporting to the Head of Content Services, the Digital Strategies & Systems Librarian works collaboratively with library and archives employees, as well as campus-wide partners and vendors to provide leadership in the maintenance and development of the library's integrated library system, website, and institutional repository. This person in this role provides collegial guidance in associated policies, workflows, and procedures in order to support the teaching and scholarship of the Winthrop community. The successful candidate implements a guiding leadership ethos, applies creative approaches to problem solving, and considers the Association of College & Research Libraries' Core Organizational Values – and Winthrop University's values – of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in their daily and collaborative work.

This is a 12-month tenure-track faculty position, and rank will be assigned at the assistant or associate level, commensurate with experience.

    Essential duties include:

    • Serving as the administrator and technical lead for the library and archives' discovery systems and technology products, including Ex Libris Alma, Digital Commons, and Springshare.
    • Managing and prioritizing information technology needs of the library and the archives, including monitoring support requests.
    • Partnering with library and archives employees to implement and refine workflows associated with relevant metadata schema and guidelines.
    • Supervising and collaborating with the library's liaison to the campus' information technology services department.
    • Monitoring and maintaining integrity of information discovery within the shared library services platform and the institutional repository.
    • Participating in the library's collection development processes and research and information programs and services.
    • Participating in academic responsibility, student intellectual development, scholarly activity, and professional stewardship activities as outlined for promotion and tenure. Performing other duties as assigned.
