    Posted May 24, 2022 11:48 AM

The University of Delaware Library, Museums and Press, in partnership with the College of Arts and Sciences, invites applications for a Digital Humanities and Africana Scholar, Special Collections. This revised and reposted position foregrounds the strengths of our Black collections together with the commitment of the University and the Library to research and creative activities, teaching, and service. The Library inspires the intellectual, scholarly and creative achievements of University and global communities with expert staff, excellent service, dynamic learning spaces and access to diverse collections and information resources.

We seek a scholar with significant subject knowledge in Black humanities to take a lead role in partnering with Library, Museums and Press staff, University faculty, and community partners, to facilitate interdisciplinary humanities projects across the classroom, museums, archives, special collections and the digital realm. This joint appointment provides unique opportunities to bring archives and special collections into the classroom and the broader world, and to develop innovative exhibitions and research projects in collaboration with students, faculty, staff and community.

This is a joint appointment to the Special Collections in the University of Delaware Library, Museums and Press and the Department of English in the College of Arts and Sciences, where the incumbent will hold a continuing appointment as an affiliated faculty member.  The successful candidate will teach the equivalent of one class per semester, engaging students with UD's special collections materials. Special Collections and the University Museums are one division within the Library, adding to the richness of resources and collaborative opportunities for this position.

The successful candidate will possess an educational background suited to work at the intersection of the classroom, the museum and/or archive, and the digital realm and articulate strategic approaches to foster digital scholarship using  UD Library's Special Collections holdings, particularly African American sources, in the classroom.
