    Please excuse cross postings.

Do you work at a research or academic library? If so, please consider taking our survey!

You are cordially invited to participate in a research study survey titled "Ageism in Research Libraries". This study is being conducted by a team of librarians at Michigan State University. The Principal Investigator is Jodi Coalter, the Life Sciences Librarian.

The purpose of the study is to explore how ageism affects librarians and library staff, where ageism appears in a library setting, and the consequences of that ageism, especially as age intersects with other identities.

This survey will focus on academic, governmental, special, and tribal libraries. We encourage anyone who currently works or has worked in one of these types of libraries, including librarians and library staff, to take the survey.

The survey will take about 10 to 15 minutes of your time. There is no cost, no anticipated risk, and no direct benefit from participating. There is no compensation for taking this survey. This survey is voluntary. You are free to leave the survey at any time without penalty.  However, your answers to this survey may help us to better understand how age interacts with other identities to impact the work environment in research libraries.
If you would like more information about the survey, an information letter is linked below. If you decide to participate, the link to the survey is available in the linked information letter and also appears below. The survey will be open until December 8, 2025
Please feel free to distribute this survey broadly to those who may be interested.

If you have any questions, please contact Jodi Coalter at coalterj@msu.edu.
