    Hello Colleagues,

AASLIG needs an Incoming Convener for 2025-2026.  This librarian will assume leadership of the group for 2026-2027 as the Convener. The duties include providing leadership for addressing ideas, discussions, and programs of interest to African American Studies librarianship.  AASLIG has a very active Funnel Committee that works with the Library of Congress to develop appropriate subject headings for African American Studies research. It has an ACRL Liaison relationship with the Association for the Study of African American Life and History(ASALH).

    From ACRL:

    New incoming conveners:
New incoming conveners will be signing up to serve as incoming convener (2025-2026), convener (2026-2027), and past convener (2027-2028) with one appointment form.  ACRL membership is required.

If you are interested, please contact: Glenda Alvin (galvin@tnstate.edu) or Deseree Stukes (dstukes@email.unc.edu)
