Libraries now have access to a great deal of historic newspaper content through a wide variety of providers ranging from major vendors to small local collections. Below are some questions to consider as more and more newspaper content becomes available to libraries and researchers.
- What are gaps in online coverage of historic newspaper content (e.g. non US, foreign language, local presses etc.)?
- With so much historic newspaper content available what are some of the biggest challenges you face when helping researchers locate material?
- How important is having a basic background in newspaper history to effectively assisting researchers with online newspaper content?
Please register to join us for this discussion! Registration is open to anyone. Membership in ALA, RUSA and the History Section are not required to participate in this discussion. We especially encourage those responsible for promoting primary source collections and those involved in integrating these types of resources into library discovery and search systems.
