    Hello ALSIS interest group,

If you were at the annual meeting on June 21st you will have met me there – but if not, I wanted to introduce myself. I am the incoming convener of the ALSIS IG, replacing the outgoing convener Katie Odhner, whose term runs through the end of this month. It is my great pleasure to serve alongside Dr. Peggy I. Nzomo.

I hope people will continue using this listserv for sharing the ways they are engaging with the international students on their campuses. There's so much collective wisdom here!

For a kickoff event at University of Arizona, we will be hosting a drop-in social run by UA International Student Services in a library collaborative classroom that is in our CATalyst studios (also includes Data Visualization, AR/VR and Maker Studios). This mixer will be on Saturday, August 19th from 1-4 pm as part of Destination Arizona. Classes begin on the 21st and I hope that by bringing students into the library at the beginning of the academic year, they will get a glimpse of the services, spaces and resources they have access to here. We are fortunate to have formed a good relationship with our ISS office that makes this kind of collaboration possible.

    Kind regards,

    Paula
