    Dear Colleagues,

With great pleasure, the organizing coordination informs the 2nd National Meeting of Black and Anti-racist Librarians (NMBAL) and the 1st International Meeting of Black and Anti-Racist Librarians (IMBAL), to be carried out online between 26-28th August 2021. In this edition, the Meeting presents the theme "The challenges of black librarians and anti-racists for the construction of an anti-racist society, emancipated and committed to diversity".

The purpose of NMBAL/IMBAL is to constitute a public space for reflection, discussion, proposition, and fight for the promotion of the library profession and for the valorization of black librarian people and also anti-racists. Despite the current moment of real setbacks in all areas of Brazilian society, the main objective of this event is to highlight the role of black and anti-racist librarians. In addition, to strategically discuss engagement actions in favor of better conditions of employment and work, access to education and training, confrontation and deconstruction of institutional and structural racism, and strengthening the identity of populations of African origin in libraries and information units.

This edition is coordinated by Profa. Dr. Ana Paula Meneses Alves (PPGCI/UFMG), Ma. Franciéle Carneiro Garcês da Silva (PPGCI/UFMG) and Prof. Dr. Rubens Alves da Silva (NEPPAMCS/ECI/UFMG) and will have a program that includes national and international conferences, workshops, simposya, oral communications and cultural presentations.

We hope to bring together public and private librarians from different educational levels, teachers and university students, activists from the Black, Indigenous and Quilombola Movement, researchers and the community in general.
