    To:

    Good morning colleagues,

In collaboration with the Associate Director of MIT Libraries, I'm in the process of investigating the use of BIPOC employee resource groups (ERGs) at the library level. Many of these groups already exist at the institute level for a range of employee identities (LGBTGIA+, Latinx, Millennials, etc) but to my knowledge thus far, there are few, if any of these groups that exist at the library level.

I'm reaching out to see if any of your institutions have an ERG, specifically at the library level.  I'm most interested in whether this is a formally established ERG, but many of these groups may exist informally in forms such as brown bag lunches, group meetups, etc.

If such a group exists and you are willing to discuss you experiences, could you please reach out to possibly talk about what this ERG looks like at your library? This feedback will be useful as MIT Libraries is in the early stages of establishing an ERG for BIPOC staff.

    What is a BIPOC ERG:

    Thanks so much!
