As artificial intelligence (AI) becomes increasingly present in higher education, academic librarians are being called upon to help students and faculty develop AI literacy - the ability to understand, evaluate, and ethically use generative tools. This webinar will guide participants through the process of designing and facilitating AI literacy sessions - either as stand-alone workshops or as components integrated within library instruction.

Drawing on a tested three-part workshop series implemented at a university library and detailed in the presenter's recently published book Evaluating AI-Generated Content: A Practical Guide for Educators and Librarians, the program will share practical lesson plans, sample activities, and frameworks aligned with the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) guidelines.

Participants will explore approaches for introducing AI concepts, designing engaging prompts, and helping learners evaluate AI-generated outputs using the Triple R Strategy (Read, Relevance, Represent). The session emphasizes intentionality, inclusivity, and ethical awareness - helping librarians design instruction that empowers students and faculty to use AI critically and responsibly.
