Hi ESMIG,
We've been experimenting with handling full-text retrieval for a few of the projects we're supporting this semester. Our ILL unit has been great and is using a python package called "billy" that accepts RIS files and creates requests as part of a bulk ILL workflow. However, retrieving full-text from our local holdings has been very time consuming. I've tried Zotero but it consistently returns a very small number of records. At other libraries I worked at, this worked much better so I think it has to do with how our holdings data is made available. I've even trained some of our student workers to retrieve PDFs and make ILL requests. It makes sense that this would be part of the overal package of support provided by the Libraries, but I don't see how this will scale with the current approach.
Do others provide this type of support or not as part of your service model? It would be very interesting to know either way.
I've learned that LibKey has an integration with Covidence that would automate retrieval of locally held items. Do any of y'all have experience with LibKey for full-text retrieval in Covidence and has it worked well? We're in the process of evaluating LibKey for purchase and it would be helpful to know what the actual experience has been.
Thanks!
Eric
