Call for Proposals: 10-Minute Lightning Talks for ACRL Inclusive Pedagogies Committee Webinar

Are you passionate about making academic librarianship more inclusive? The ACRL Instruction Section Inclusive Pedagogy Committee is looking for presenters for an upcoming webinar. We're planning to  highlight the resources made available through the ACRL Inclusive Pedagogy Toolkit and elevate the work folks are doing around inclusive pedagogy in their libraries. In Spring 2023, we hosted a panel introducing the toolkit, and now we want to learn about how librarians have implemented these resources.

The Inclusive Pedagogy Committee invites you to submit proposals for 10-minute lightning talks. We'd love to learn about your work!

    🎯 Aim of the Session

The purpose of these talks is to share practices and ideas about inclusive teaching, specifically focusing on library instruction and the Inclusive Pedagogy Toolkit. By sharing these practices, we aim to cultivate a community of educators committed to inclusion and equity.

    📝 Topics of Interest

We welcome proposals that cover but are not limited to:

    • Tools for Instruction: Share your tips and techniques on self-reflection, recognizing implicit bias, and using sample lessons or tutorials.

    • Universal Design: Talk about how you make your learning environment accessible to all, regardless of ability.

    • Classroom Engagement: Share activities, games, or methods you use to keep everyone active and included in the classroom.

    • Anti-Racism and Anti-Racist Pedagogy: Discuss the resources and strategies you've used to make your teaching methods more equitable and inclusive.

    • Self-Care Practices: Teach us how you incorporate self-care into your daily routine and how it affects your teaching style.

    • Professional Development: Explain what steps you or your library are taking to improve in the area of inclusive pedagogies.
