    Posted May 08, 2025 04:07 PM

    Dear Colleagues,

We are conducting a research project to examine the role and responsibilities of librarians who support health sciences and non-health sciences departments. This study explores how librarians adapt their expertise to meet the distinct needs of these fields, from delivering specialized resources for evidence-based practices in health sciences to fostering interdisciplinary research in non-health disciplines. By understanding their strategies for balancing diverse responsibilities and navigating challenges, we aim to uncover the intricacies of this type of librarian role. Ultimately, this research will provide insights into best practices and inform professional development opportunities to support librarians in these multifaceted roles.

This online survey will take approximately 15 minutes to complete. Responses will be collected online through Qualtrics, a secure survey tool, and will be collected in a manner that will not personally identify participants. Participants must be 18 years or older to take this survey. Participation is voluntary, and participants are free to skip any questions they do not wish to answer or withdraw from the survey at any time. There are no anticipated risks associated with participation in this study.

This study has been reviewed and approved by the University of Tennessee at Knoxville Institutional Review Board and the University of Utah Institutional Review Board.
