Call for Participants: Experience of the Academic Librarian Job Search Study

  • 1.  Call for Participants: Experience of the Academic Librarian Job Search Study

    Posted Apr 04, 2023 11:20 AM

    Dear all,

I am seeking participants for a study investigating the academic librarian job search process from the perspective of former library staffers. I am inviting US academic librarians aged 18 and older to participate in a short screening survey and then in-depth interviews.

You are eligible to participate if:

    • ·      You hold an MLIS or equivalent
    • ·      You're currently working at an academic library
    • ·      You hold the title of Librarian
    • ·      You have previously been employed as a library support staff

The goal of this study is to understand the current academic job search. The goal is also to use the results to help hiring managers improve the process, especially for library staff who hope to progress in their careers.

Participation in this study is voluntary. Your identity as a participant will remain confidential during and after the study. The screener survey will take no more than a few minutes. The interviews will take no more than 1 hour and will include completing a timeline worksheet.

I hope that you consider participating in this study. If interested, please complete this short screener survey: Experience of the Academic Librarian Job Search Project

This research has been reviewed and approved by an Institutional Review Board (IRB) at the University at Buffalo. You may talk to them at (716) 888-4888 or email ub-irb@buffalo.edu with questions. The IRB ID is STUDY00007141

    Thank you.
