  • 1.  Assistive technology room

    Bonjour!

I would like to know your opinions. Is having a room with assistive technology a thing of the past? Have any of you eliminated these rooms and scattered the devices and softwares throughout the library? If so, any regrets or negative feedbacks? Are the devices and softwares used as often? Was it easy to train several employees to use the different technologies and keep them update?

    Merci!

We have our Assistive Technology Lab, though it admittedly doesn't get a ton of use. "This room includes two PCs with accessibility software, a CCTV, and a braille printer. The equipment housed in the Assistive Technology Lab is available whenever the Library is open- no reservations or check-ins are required."  We do keep the room separate for two reasons--for maintenance purposes and to ensure a space with little competition so there aren't additional barriers for those needing the equipment.
