  • 1.  APA PsycINFO in Ebscohost (not the new interface)

    Hi everyone,

    Does anyone here use the Ebscohost interface to PsycINFO? At my workplace, we're not yet upgraded to the new interface. I'm noticing some inconsistencies. 

    For example, I built a combined set search out of two prior searches. To do so, I created my own account, wherein I was able to permanently save the final search as well as each set upon which the final search is dependent. Then, I shared the search results from the final search. The URL that I shared retrieved about 150 results that were relevant, but when I revisited the search URL the next day, it was retrieving results in the 3,000 range (most irrelevant).

    Something seems haywire.

    Either I am doing something very wrong, or Ebscohost's legacy platform is becoming unstable.

    Please advise if you have any potential insights to share.

    Double check that the linked search actually has ALL your original search options. I found that some things never "stuck" on the search, especially if I filtered the search results before grabbing the link. Multiple times I had sent search links to students only to discover that they couldn't see the more limited results I'd been trying to send.

    I had applied search limits prior to grabbing the link. Maybe that's the problem.
