Announcement: Time and Agenda for our December Group Meetup!

  • 1.  Announcement: Time and Agenda for our December Group Meetup!

    Posted Dec 03, 2024 01:00 PM

Greetings, ACRL AI Discussion Group members!

Ginny and I will be hosting our December Group Meetup on Tuesday, December 10th, from 3pm to 4pm EST.  You can join the meeting at this zoom link, and I'll endeavor to add as many folks as possible to the invitation directly as well.

We'll be joined by special guests Jason Coleman (science librarian at KSU) and Keven Jeffery (systems librarian at SD State), co-chairs of the 12-member ACRL AI Competencies Task Force.  Jason and Keven will be sharing the preliminary outcomes of the Task Force's work, and invite discussion across a broad range of topics including ethics, AI use and application, analysis, and AI education.

If you have specific questions you'd like to ask ahead of time, please feel free to share them below, and we'll aim to address in the discussion on the 10th!

    Warmly,

    Heather

    Hi folks!

I'm writing to add a more detailed agenda for our December group meetup next week, courtesy of Keven and Jason:

    1. Introduction to the AI Competencies Task Force
    2. Break-out discussions:
      1. What mindsets/dispositions should academic library workers adopt toward AI?
      2. What would you consider to be core AI competencies for library workers?
    3. Overview of the Task Force's work and results to-date
    4. Group poll about competencies
    5. Next steps and opportunities for further input

Should be a great discussion - looking forward to seeing you all!

    Cheers,

    Heather
