Hello all,
The AI and Technical Services Subgroup will be meeting next Tuesday, May 19th at 1pm Central (2pm Eastern, Noon Mountain)
At this meeting we'll be talking about vibe coding and how to use it to approach some of our ongoing technical services tasks. We're excited to announce that we'll be hearing from Jennifer Goodland and Griffin Engel on the tools they're using and the approaches they're taking
Griffin Engel: Griffin will cover what he's done with creating and designing Libguides with HTML and CSS with gen AI. He'll also be sharing some strategies to consider when using gen AI coming from a programming perspective. He'll talk to us about what makes for a better prompt and will give us a checklist of strategies and will look at examples of work he's done.
Jennifer Goodland: Ten times as fast, five times as messy, and twice as catastrophic! With vibe coding, you can create breathtakingly destructive code with lightning speed - or you can take your time, learn about systems architecture, and learn programming by doing. We'll talk about what AI-assisted coding genuinely excels at, what still requires a human with a whiteboard, and why the first thing a good AI coding workflow establishes is where the AI doesn't get to touch.
