The ACRL Chapters Council seeks an individual to serve as Secretary. The original plan was to have someone in place by July 1, the beginning of the Secretary's term. So far, no one has volunteered to serve in this position, however.
The Secretary's term is for one year and lasts from July 1 to June 30, and the officeholder may run for reelection at least once. The person's main responsibility is to take the minutes at the two meetings ACRL Chapters Council holds each year, one at LibLearnX (formerly ALA Midwinter) and another at ALA Annual. A hybrid option is available for both meetings, so in-person attendance is not required. The Secretary also assists the other ACRL Chapters Council leaders with projects, such as maintaining a directory of the statewide and regional chapters and their activities.
While Chapters Council officers tend to be current or former leaders in their respective statewide and regional chapters, the only requirement to serve is current membership in the statewide or regional chapter. I served as Secretary for the past two years before becoming Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect and would be glad to answer any questions on the responsibilities and workload involved.
