    Roundtable 15: Good practices for inclusive and culturally responsive library services for international students

    Description

    This session will explore ways in which academic librarians can be proactive in creating inclusive programs and services as well as provide spaces that foster a sense of belonging for international students. Furthermore, the session will provide a forum for discussing how instruction librarians can provide culturally responsive library and information literacy instruction to international students. Using a SWOC analysis approach, attendees will share tips and strategies for providing effective services for international students. Attendees will also discuss what hasn't worked so well and what lessons can be gleaned from this.

     

    Objective 1: Discuss ways in which we can offer culturally responsive reference and instruction services to international students

    Objective 2: Discuss outreach and engagement programming that is inclusive and/or that could help foster a sense of belonging for international students

    Objective 3: Considering what you have discussed in 1 and 2, use a SWOC analysis to evaluate current and/or past practices in your services for international students
