Charge: To support current and former residents to network, share their expertise, gain national leadership and service experience, and prepare for transitioning to post-residency positions through: a) advancing resident education and residents’ professional success through inter-collegiate collaboration; b) creating programming and resources that center residents; c) advocating for current residents through a liaison relationship with the ACRL Diversity Alliance; d) providing opportunities to engage in research on residencies; and e) centralizing information regarding program availability.

    We are excited to announce that the Southern Library Support Staff Conference will be held on May 27-29, 2026, at Vanderbilt University, in Nashville, Tennessee. This year's theme, "From the Heart of the Library: Stories of Engagement, Innovation, and Leadership," invites library professionals at all stages of their careers to delve into personal narratives that highlight the transformative power of libraries in their communities. 

    Conference Details:  

    • Main conference on Wednesday, May 27th, and Thursday, May 28th 
    • Excursions/tours around Nashville on Friday, May 29th  
    • Registration will open February 2, 2026 
    • Conference website: https://slss.library.vanderbilt.edu/ 
       

    Proposal Submission OPEN NOW! We welcome your ideas for conference presentations. Please submit via the proposal submission form.  

    Scholarships Available! Through a generous grant from the Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian Program, a limited number of scholarships are available for attendees. Please visit the scholarship information page to view eligibility requirements and apply.
