Hello, ACRL AI Discussion Group!
Ginny and I are writing to you with a couple of exciting previews of what's to come in 2025... first up, at our January group meetup, we'll be joined by special guest speaker Dr. Alexia Hudson-Ward, sharing insights and leading us in a discussion on social intelligence in the age of AI, and what it means to apply a humanistic lens to this transformative technology. Dr. Hudson-Ward is the Editor-In-Chief of ACRL/Choice360's "Towards Inclusive Excellence," was the Azariah Smith Root Director of Libraries at Oberlin College, and is my colleague at MIT, in her role as the Associate Director for Research and Learning (as well as our AI Strategy lead!). This should be a great conversation, and we'll send out a save-the-date soon!
We've also booked a spot at ALA Annual for a hybrid meet-up of our discussion group! Ginny and I will host in both in-person and virtual modes, so that as many folks can join as possible, and we'll work together with you to build the agenda for our time together. We're aiming for Friday afternoon, but that's subject to change as the ALA Annual schedule is finalized in the coming months - we'll keep you updated.
2025 is shaping up to be a great year for our new group, so thank you all for being "early adopters" :) We are looking to many more discussions and explorations with you in the coming months, and in the meantime, please keep posting and sharing here!
Warmly,
Heather and Ginny
