Brief notes:
ALA 2014 proposal (deadline early November)

Annual Conference online meeting request form goes live: Early October (right after MW form goes down)
Annual Conference Ticketed Events form due: Mid to late October
All PROGRAMS for Annual Conference are due: Early November- All other meetings/discussion groups to be entered: Early March

Should we plan for in person or virtual program? Panel, preconference, round table discussion, workshop?

Beth: Virtual might be more inclusive for those who can't attend in person, more green, more inclusive (practice what we preach). In person could be good exposure for this new group.

Bonnie: In person program would be good but doesn't preclude something virtually.

Madeleine: Propose in person and virtual to increase our odds...

Beth: Possible to select the format for each proposal? We will look into that...

 .......................................

 Ideas for ALA 2014:

1) How to Create a Sustainability Action Plan (hands-on workshop with Madeleine, others?)

2) Mandy Henk (SustainRT sponsors her as a speaker?)

3)Lightning Talks (or panel): Different librarians (academ., public, school) showcase sustainability actions at their libraries. Perhaps create "mini" action plans for people to take away. For example, "i'm a school librarian who created a garden in the courtyard for kids to learn how to grow their own food"--here's how you can do it. If we do this, presenters get to know one another beforehand so they know what the other is doing, find common ground and make a more cohesive presentation all together. LibGuide, wikis for referral afterwards.

4) Rebekah Aldrige had volunteered to present...what is the topic?

5) As a takeaway...forming partnerships in your community (outreach, events, sponsorships)

Madeleine will look back at her two Library Juice Academy courses to see if there are patterns -- gaps that people seem to express -- need for more information/support.

We will continue this conversation asynchrony sly. Madeleine will post this list of ideas in ALA Connect so we can continue adding to the ideas and allow participation from those who could not be on this call.

 ALA 2013 ideas:

SustainRT round table Monday, July 1, 2013 - 8:30am to 10:00am Location: Prairie Room A

a - Led by Beth and Ashley (as "steering committee members"). Mara and Bonnie will be there too.

b - Need agenda items beforehand: history of the group (and how different from TFOE and SSRT), plans for programs, where are we going, ideas for going forward, concerns, questions about the group or sustainability in general, etc. Get their ideas for ALA 2014 programming!

c - Beth will write up tailored "invitation" and include a list of places we will "push it" so we don't duplicate: new website, new listserv, FaceBook, Sustainability Librarians, ACRL, ALA, USAIN, STS, other sections and roundtables, etc.

d - Also a trail walk all around the lake but where to congregate, etc. Lunch time on Saturday but Sunday is better. Or Sunday 6ish. Must announce this event with the round table invitation.

Official election for SustainRT will happen in Feb-March
