We work in libraries with policies that reflect our commitment to professional standards and ethics. We work in communities that sometimes require flexibility and innovation when the reality of our environments and our community needs challenge those policies. Let's learn from each other about ways we meet community needs (particularly as they relate to climate stressors like storms, extreme heat, or extreme cold) with compassion, agility, and creativity.
This program will be interactive, with opportunities to partner with ALA members from all sorts of libraries in small, facilitated groups. We'll start the program in plenary (both in person and on Zoom), take turns in four small groups for facilitated information exchanges, then share highlights when we gather together later in the session. We're delighted to be working with the Community Adaptation Learning Exchange (CALE), a peer-learning network that convenes conversations about climate adaptation practice to facilitate knowledge development and support member connections. Our intention is to share our findings from this program so that the broader library community can be informed by what we learn together.
