Promoting Climate Change Resiliency with Sami Aaron
Monday, June 26 10:30-11:30 CT
McCormick Place, W185bc
The topic will be chosen by a survey of ALA members to be sent out immediately after the April "Introduction to Climate Resiliency" webinar hosted by the Sustainability RT education and programming committee.
Topics will be drawn from The Resilient Activist's Speakers Bureau Presentations list (https://www.theresilientactivist.org/speakers-bureau-presentations/) plus others that arise during the April 2023 webinar.
This webinar offered an overview of "Climate Anxiety" and "Climate Resilience," exploring the growing emotional crisis arising from the fear, depression, and existential dread that more and more people are experiencing over climate change and its interconnected social justice impacts.
Topics will include:
● Definitions, new terms, and an understanding of the mental health impacts of climate change and environmental devastation
● An understanding of how climate change affects various communities and age groups differently
● A list of resources, research, and reading materials that provide mental health and resilience support related to the climate crisis.
