SustainRT celebrates the STAR Library Network Building Resilient Communities (BRC) Project!
The BRC project aimed to strengthen partnerships between public libraries and community-based organizations (like K-12 schools, science centers, and public health agencies) to take locally relevant climate actions that address environmental and public health impacts. Funded by the National Science Foundation, the BRC project was led by the Space Science Institute in partnership with Interactive Learning Dynamics, OCLC's WebJunction program, and the University of North Carolina Greensboro. An important project deliverable was to produce a Call-to-Action Report that synthesizes the project’s findings into practical recommendations for fostering cross-sector partnerships, centering equity and justice, and empowering communities to develop locally tailored resilience strategies. It invites libraries, funders, government agencies, and community partners to prioritize collaboration, inclusivity, and shared learning as pathways to impactful climate action.
