    Position Description: This position reports to the Head of Research, Engagement, & Learning Department. The Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math (STEM) Librarian provides research services in person and virtually at various events and locations across campus. The librarian is responsible for developing library guides, providing research services, information literacy instruction, research assistance, creating library guides and exhibits, and other duties as assigned. In addition, the librarian will collaborate with colleagues on library-wide committees and projects to advocate the research needs of Lamar University/Lamar Institute Technology constituents. 

    This is a tenure track position, 12 months faculty appointment.

    Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.

    Position Duties:

    • Participate In the planning and delivery of team-based virtual research services (i.e. chat, text, email, and telephone}.
    • Collaborate with faculty to integrate information literacy across the curriculum.
    • Participate in collaborative partnerships and relationships within the library, university, and surrounding communities to promote library services and resources.
    • Provide programs and services that support the information literacy instruction and research assistance programs and create library guides in STEM and other related disciplines.
    • Collaborate with the Office of Research to provide library support for funded projects in STEM disciplines.
    • Explore collaborations with the maker spaces on campus.
    • Actively engage in university-service, professional development, research, and publication/presentation.
    • Perform related duties as assigned.


    Education/Experience:

    • ALA-accredited Master's degree in library or information studies or equivalent.
    • Applicable experience (three years} in an academic setting in research and instruction departments.
    • Experience using Springshare products such as LibGuides, LibChat, and LibAnswers.
    • Undergraduate or graduate degree in a STEM discipline and experience in using STEM resources (including databases, journals, and preprints) and instruction.
    • Have a record of scholarship, research, and professional service appropriate for appointment as a tenure track library faculty member.
