ALA Sustainability Round Table
Minutes, December 2, 2014 Conference Call, 1pm (EST)
Present: Ashley Jones, Coordinator; Madeleine Charney, Coordinator Elect; Betsy Evans, Treasurer; Matthew Bollerman, Secretary; Eileen Harrington, Member at Large; Rebekkah Smith Aldrich, Member at Large
Meeting was called to order at 1:02 pm.
SustainRT has two programs arranged for the Mid Winter Conference:
Saturday, January 31, 1 to 2:30 pm, SustainRT Executive Board Meeting, all are welcome. Meeting will take place at Hilton Chicago, Conference Room 5C.
Sunday, February 1, 3 pm, SustainRT Social Event, all are welcome to meet up at Hyatt Regency McCormick, Clark/CC 22C. Event is still being arranged.
Invitations to ALA Presidential Candidates have been made to attend the Executive Board meeting.
Rebekkah discussed the resolution the New York Library Association (NYLA) has passed as a possible model for ALA to consider. Will speak to Peter about moving it forward. She also spoke about the efforts to make the NYLA conference greener, by offering attendees an option to bring their own badge holder and to pass on the free bag, brochure and other paper. These were made available electronically.
Matt will bring a projector to annual for the presentation along with a laptop.
Betsy gave a fiscal year financial report. Some questions were raised and she will get those answers.
Ways to change the conference consumption may be to coordinate with the Exhibitors Roundtable.
Eileen reported on the Environmental Scan group. They held a meeting and created an online google sheet. This tool will collect resources.
An online open meeting is scheduled for February 2015 to help collection items for this project.
The Green Ribbon Award support letter is making its way through the ALA hierarchy.
Rebekkah reported that the Marketing and Outreach group will be meeting in a few weeks.
