Anyone Serving as an AI Literacy Librarian? I'd Love to Connect

    Hi folks,

I'm interested in connecting with librarians in higher ed whose role focuses significantly on AI literacy (for example, titles such as AI Literacy Librarian, AI Instruction Librarian, or similar). I'm very curious about this and would love to learn from those already doing this work.

If you currently hold a position with substantial AI literacy responsibilities, I'd be very interested in the opportunity to ask a few questions or have a brief conversation.

Here are some questions I'm curious about:

    • How did this role come about at your institution? Did it evolve from an existing position or was it created intentionally? Who were the main drivers behind it (you, library leadership, institutional leadership, etc.)?
    • What are your primary responsibilities in this role? What does a typical week or month look like? Would you be willing to forward me your job description?
    • Is AI literacy your full-time focus, or is it combined with other responsibilities (instruction, liaison work, scholarly communication, etc.)?
    • Did you have a role in shaping the position description or defining its responsibilities?
    • How have your library colleagues responded to the role? Have you experienced support, skepticism, or challenges?
    • What skills, knowledge, or background have been most helpful for doing this work?
    • What if any campus partners do you collaborate with (teaching and learning centers, IT, academic departments, administration)?
    • Who are your primary audiences: students, faculty, staff, or all of the above?
    • If a library were considering creating a similar role, what advice would you give?

Thank you in advance for sharing your experiences.
