Community Powered Adult Learning Webinar, Wednesday, Nov 16, 2022, 01:00 PM in Central Time

SPECIAL REGISTRATION LINK JUST FOR COHORThttps://ala-events.zoom.us/webinar/register/1816675952418/WN_RrM_D2sqT2mP40hewxO8yQ

Description: Despite demand and an eagerness to learn from engaged community members, we know that adult learning in the library doesn’t just “happen.” Learning circles are a great way to engage in peer-to-peer adult learning, but many libraries feel that it takes too much staff time to facilitate.

Since 2019, Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh (CLP) has worked with Peer 2 Peer University (P2PU) to offer its We Learn program, which utilizes learning circles as a format for demand-driven adult education. By taking courses together as a group, learners often feel more motivated to work through the material, deepen their learning through discussion, and develop relationships with neighbors who have similar interests. To lower the burden on staff, CLP and P2PU streamlined learning circles with the library’s volunteer program, allowing volunteers to convene small groups of learners around topics of mutual interest, from philosophy to the Korean language to Python. In this webinar, we will outline the free resources that you can utilize to begin your own volunteer-led learning circles.
PLA has set aside a group of FREE tickets for the cohort.

Please do not share these links.

Our November workshops are going to be a little different. We have partnered with our eLearning team at PLA and ALA to provide free access to two webinars that we think will be of particular interest:

    • Transforming Senior Services and Outreach (recording coming soon)
    • Community-Powered Adult Learning

You may join these workshops live or access the recording after they take place. Either way, you need to use the links to register.

Note: These are workshops that are not specific to our cohort and will cover a broad range of topics related to educational programming in libraries. We feel these webinars will provide insight and guidance that is transferable to your work with Digital Learn Workshops and beyond.

If you have any questions about Digital Learn or the AT&T funded Incentive Program these will not be the right space to ask those questions. Please reach out to me digitallearnhelp@ala.org or ask your question on our Connect group.

    Hi Mary Clare,

I signed up for the Community-Powered Adult Learning course through the link and I'm now trying to access the recording. It is requiring me to put in a "signup" code but I never received one (I'm assuming that's because these registrations were purchased as a group for the cohort). Do you know what the signup code is so I can view the recording? Thanks!

    Hi Irene,
I will ask our elearning partners about this. Can you try these links? They work without a code for me.

Thanks, I was able to watch that one. I'm trying to access the other recording for "Community-Powered Adult Learning", but maybe it's just not available yet?

    Sorry about the confusion!
I just reached out to the webinar team and they are off today. I should have more info on Monday.
    I'll post an update then.
