Maps are an integral part of many library's collections, but due to their unique needs and issues librarians and library staff members often fear them. This session will address and alleviate the concerns often associated with collecting and working with these valuable resources, offering advice on how to arrange, house, and maintain paper maps and providing an overview of resources for managing map collections of all shapes and sizes. About the speaker
Hallie Pritchett has managed large academic map collections for over a decade, first at the University of Minnesota's John R. Borchert Map Library and currently as head of the University of Georgia's new Map and Government Information Library. She has been an active member of MAGIRT since 2007, and currently serves as Past Chair. Ms. Pritchett holds a BA in Psychology, Sociology and English from the University of Minnesota, an MLIS from the University of Illinois and a Master of Internet Technology from the University of Georgia.
