The mission of the Library Research Round Table (LRRT) is to contribute toward the extension and improvement of library research; to provide public program opportunities for describing and evaluating library research projects and for disseminating their findings; to inform and educate ALA members concerning research techniques and their usefulness in obtaining information with which to reach administrative decisions and solve problems; and expand the theoretical base of the field. LRRT also, serves as a forum for discussion and action on issues related to the literature and information needs for the field of library and information science.

The Library Research Round Table is seeking librarians and researchers in the library and information sciences for our first cohort of our Virtual Mentorship Program, which is set to start in early September, 2022.  The primary purposes of this program are to promote and support the development of rigorous, substantive research in library and information science, and to help individual scholars succeed professionally.  We are actively seeking members of our community who have had some experience with conducting research, presenting their work, and writing and publishing articles.   You need not have the extensive expertise of a sage, a distinguished researcher, or a professor emeritus.  Your experience and knowledge of the process, the methodologies, and the nitty-gritty details of getting a research project started, funded, completed, and reported on would be welcomed by those who are just starting out on their own research journey.  While we have had strong responses from those interested in participating, we are seeking a balance of mentors to meet the needs of mentees.  Please consider the benefits you would gain by sharing your expertise and experiences, including enhancing the knowledge base of the profession.

If you would like to learn more about this program, please watch the recording of our Webinar from Friday, July 15, 2022:

As you can tell from this session, we are seeking input from potential participants regarding the details of the structure of the program.  You, too, are invited to provide your voice on these matters by completing this survey: https://wcupa.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_3rgqgqG8yfsyRkG .

If you would like to participate in the inaugural cohort of the LRRT Virtual Mentorship Program, please complete the registration form (https://tinyurl.com/LRRTMentoringApp) by July 31st, 2022.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the LRRT Virtual Mentorship Program Subcommittee at ala.lrrt.mentoringprogram@gmail.com

And please feel free to forward this call to others who may be interested and in a position to help those just starting out.
