The Library Research Round Table will be initiating another cohort for the Virtual Research Mentoring Program. Our first year was a success with 34 mentees matched to 17 mentors, some of whom will be continuing for another year! The program connects those interested in pursuing research with more experienced researchers. Efforts are made to match individuals based on research interests or methodologies or individual identities, if so desired. If you are a master's or doctoral student preparing to conduct a research project, a librarian new to academic librarianship needing to establish a research agenda, a practicing librarian who is stuck in your own research project, or an experienced librarian interested in applying research method to your own work, this program could help you. Similarly, if you are a tenured professor in the field, an experienced practitioner-researcher, or even a recent graduate with a few research projects under your belt, you could help others explore research topics, learn about different methodologies, provide advice in shepherding an IRB-proposal, or be a sounding board for ideas.
The LRRT Mentoring Program Subcommittee will be hosting an informational webinar on Friday, August 25th, 1:00pm CDT. If you are interested in being either a mentor or a mentee, please join us! This will be a meeting format where you will be invited to ask questions and discuss concerns you may have about participating. We also invite those who will be continuing with the program to let others know the value the program has provided you. You may register for the webinar at https://ala-events.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJItf-6upzkvH93yEQ1M4wbzLx23CEAuYYJY#/registration .
If you are unable to attend this session and you have questions you would like addressed, please contact the committee at ala.lrrt.mentoring@gmail.com. You are also invited to complete the program registration form at forms.gle/ECxJzwE9y3tVqZr78 . Completing the form does not obligate you to participate, but it does let us know you are interested and what your research interests are.
We look forward to meeting you.
