The mission of the Library Research Round Table (LRRT) is to contribute toward the extension and improvement of library research; to provide public program opportunities for describing and evaluating library research projects and for disseminating their findings; to inform and educate ALA members concerning research techniques and their usefulness in obtaining information with which to reach administrative decisions and solve problems; and expand the theoretical base of the field. LRRT also, serves as a forum for discussion and action on issues related to the literature and information needs for the field of library and information science.

    Onboarding in Libraries

    Survey Background

The American Library Association (ALA) does not currently have a document with onboarding best practices, and the Academic, Collegiate and Research Libraries (ACRL) has not put out new guidance since 2012. The purpose of this research project is to learn about current onboarding practices in libraries and employee satisfaction with those practices. Amanda McLeod is inviting you to volunteer for a research study. Amanda McLeod is an Assistant Professor at Clemson University conducting the study with DeAnn Brame at the University of Maryland Baltimore and V. Emily Cranwell Deinert at the University of Maryland College Park.

    Participation Expectations

We are inviting you to participate in this research project because you currently work at a library in the United States. To participate, you must be 18 years of age or older.

Participation is entirely voluntary and survey responses will be kept confidential. You may withdraw your participation at any time without penalty. The survey takes approximately 15-20 minutes to complete. We anticipate publishing the results and sharing the findings with the profession.

Thank you for your time. Your feedback is greatly appreciated. Contact us with any questions or concerns onboardinginlibraries@gmail.com.
