The mission of the Library Research Round Table (LRRT) is to contribute toward the extension and improvement of library research; to provide public program opportunities for describing and evaluating library research projects and for disseminating their findings; to inform and educate ALA members concerning research techniques and their usefulness in obtaining information with which to reach administrative decisions and solve problems; and expand the theoretical base of the field. LRRT also, serves as a forum for discussion and action on issues related to the literature and information needs for the field of library and information science.

    The ALISE Youth Services Special Interest Group (SIG) seeks proposals for original contributions on youth, learning, and information that focus on the future of youth services in LIS education, including reports of research, theory, pedagogy, or best practices. Students are especially encouraged to submit. Selected proposals will be presented at the 2023 ALISE conference being held October 2 - 5, 2023 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The conference theme is "Bridge the Gap." 

    Potential topics of interest include but are not limited to:

    Book censorship and challenges
    Challenging texts
    Critical Race Theory and youth/youth services
    Academic achievement and learning
    Youth, families, and caregivers
    Community literacy
    Community engagement 

    The panel may include 2- 4 presentations. The session will begin with presentations of each submission (10-20 minutes each depending on the number of selected proposals), followed by an open discussion and Q&A.

    The proposals must include:

    ●  Title of presentation
    ●  Author(s) information: full name, institutional/organizational affiliation, and email
    ●  A proposal abstract (approximately 500 words)

    The title, author information, and reference list are not included in the word count. 

    Please email your proposals to both SIG co-chairs: Dr. Rachel Magee (rmmagee@illinois.edu) and Kerry Townsend (klm7a5@mail.missouri.edu) by 11:59 pm CST, March 15, 2023.

    Acceptance to the SIG's panel submission will be sent by March 16th, 2023. Presenters are required to register for the ALISE 2023 conference.
