The Library Research Round Table is pleased to announce the 2025 Jesse H. Shera Award for the Support of Dissertation Research:

A Meaningful Place: Public Libraries and Self-care Children

The award jury noted that the dissertation proposal is well-researched, theoretically grounded, methodologically rigorous, and makes an important contribution to the study of self-care children in public libraries. The use of comparative case studies, focus groups, and discourse analysis provides a well-rounded approach to understanding how libraries can better serve this population. The aspects of treating this child population as a patron group worthy of service, and centering the children's own voices, contribute significant value.
