The mission of the Library Research Round Table (LRRT) is to contribute toward the extension and improvement of library research; to provide public program opportunities for describing and evaluating library research projects and for disseminating their findings; to inform and educate ALA members concerning research techniques and their usefulness in obtaining information with which to reach administrative decisions and solve problems; and expand the theoretical base of the field. LRRT also, serves as a forum for discussion and action on issues related to the literature and information needs for the field of library and information science.

    NOTSL is seeking proposals for virtual presentations for our Fall Conference. We encourage thoughtful, timely proposals from Technical Services staff in Public, Special, or Academic Libraries. The event seeks to share practical applications of methods and tools used in collection development and maintenance for projects with a DEI lens or focus. We are tentatively planning for the conference to be hosted in October or November of 2023. (Exact date TBD)

    Possible topics include, but are not limited to:



    • Using Excel to analyze collections

    • Deploying Vendor Tools (ie Collection HQ)

    • Accessibility Audits (ie WCAG compliance in electronic resources)

    • Diversity Audit methods

    • ILS reports & Lists used to locate gaps in collections

    • MARCEdit 

    Proposal Submission Guidelines

    Please note: This event will focus special attention on the expertise of our colleagues in Technical Services and Collections. For this conference, we invite proposals ranging from 20 minutes to an hour in length.  Proposals related to open source or widely available tools and smaller projects or activities in the above areas will be given first priority consideration.   

    • Multiple submissions are allowed, but each must represent a different topic. 

    • Proposals should provide clear indication of actionable takeaway or practical applications

    • Exclude the name of your institution, department, and any personal names in the title or abstract. If you include this identifying information, your proposal may not receive further consideration.

     

    Proposal Types:

    • 1 hour Presentation

    • 15-20 minute Topical Session

     

          Proposal Components:

    • Title: 50 word limit

    • Abstract: 200 word limit

      • Exclude the name of your institution, department and any personal names. If you include this identifying information, your proposal may not receive further consideration.
