The mission of the Library Research Round Table (LRRT) is to contribute toward the extension and improvement of library research; to provide public program opportunities for describing and evaluating library research projects and for disseminating their findings; to inform and educate ALA members concerning research techniques and their usefulness in obtaining information with which to reach administrative decisions and solve problems; and expand the theoretical base of the field. LRRT also, serves as a forum for discussion and action on issues related to the literature and information needs for the field of library and information science.

    Are you interested in becoming more involved in the work of the LRRT?  If so, please consider volunteering to serve on an LRRT Committee!  Brief descriptions, projected terms of work, and committee size are outlined below. Committee members must be personal members of the Library Research Roundtable or become one.

     Communications Committee will work to update the LRRT website. Work of this committee will be continuous this year. (Two-year term, with the opportunity to renew) (3 - 5 members)

    Mentorship Committee will facilitate the LRRT mentor/mentee program and organize the Mentorship Program Forum for Annual conference.  Work of this committee is ongoing. (Two-year term, with the opportunity to renew) (5 - 7 members, one of whom will serve as chair)

    Membership Committee will work with the ALA Staff Liaison to promote LRRT membership.  Work of this committee is ongoing. (Two-year term, with the opportunity to renew) (3 - 5 members, one of whom may serve as chair)

    Nominating Committee will report a slate of at least two candidates for each position to be filled.  Work of this committee takes place during the fall in order to have ballot information submitted for the ALA timeline. (One-year term, with the opportunity to renew) (3 - 5 members, one of whom may serve as chair)

    Research Forum Committee will evaluate paper submissions and select recipients for the LRRT Annual Research Forum. Work of this committee will take place primarily during January and early February. (One-year term, with the opportunity to renew) (3 - 5 members, one of whom may serve as chair)

    Shera Awards Committee will evaluate submissions and select recipients of the Jesse H. Shera Dissertation Award and the Jesse H. Shera Published Research Award.  Work of this committee takes place primarily during February and early March. (One-year term, with the opportunity to renew) (5 - 7 members, one of whom may serve as chair)
