The mission of the Library Research Round Table (LRRT) is to contribute toward the extension and improvement of library research; to provide public program opportunities for describing and evaluating library research projects and for disseminating their findings; to inform and educate ALA members concerning research techniques and their usefulness in obtaining information with which to reach administrative decisions and solve problems; and expand the theoretical base of the field. LRRT also, serves as a forum for discussion and action on issues related to the literature and information needs for the field of library and information science.

    Would you like to work with a research team to advance libraries through user-centered research? Then we have an opportunity for you at OCLC Research as an Associate Research Scientist!

     

    As a member of the OCLC Research team, the Associate Research Scientist will work in a team environment on all aspects of quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis. The major responsibility is conducting and disseminating quantitative research, such as developing and administering online questionnaires, analyzing data using descriptive, parametric, and non-parametric statistical methods, and modeling using data analysis programs, e.g., R and SPSS, and working on projects using mixed methods approaches. Disseminating oral and written research findings, including visualizations is required. Responsibilities also include user-centered data mining activities, such as analyzing log files from WorldCat and other institutional databases and catalogs in order to identify search and retrieval patterns to make recommendations for product enhancement and development. Working with the research and product teams, the Associate Research Scientist also will make recommendations, develop, and test user-centered OCLC interfaces, products, and services. Leading and participating in qualitative research is an opportunity, but not a requirement.
